Big changes are coming to our house. My mom is moving in due to some health
issues. We emptied my craft room, and
then moved a bed, furniture, and pictures in over the weekend. Today, I took her to the doctor to discuss
some of her medications. You see, two of
them she was supposed to be cutting in half according to what was in the
computer, but the actual hand written scripts (the pharmacy graciously gave me
copies) didn’t say that. I guess I
thought the doctor would at least apologize for the mix up, but no such
luck. I wanted to punch him in the
throat when he asked if she was unable to tolerate the full pills after he said
too high of dosages caused falls, lethargy, and a general malaise- all things she’s had for quite some time. Who knows how longer her meds have been
messed up. I guess it is a good thing my
brother and I finally figured it out after she fell and put a hole in her wall.
As far as the rest of the visit, I came away feeling like
the doctor thinks her issues are no big deal or all in my head. I asked a friend who has cared for her sick
mom for a decade if there were ever days she felt the same and I guess the good
things was she said ALL THE TIME. The
doctor’s listening skills also weren’t the best and it felt like he was watching
the clock for the entire visit. It was just
a very unsettling experience. I’m hoping
to find her a new family doctor soon.
The boys are excited to have grandma around more. They will be riding the bus home so she isn’t
alone as much. Our cat Squirt has
already decided that she’s sleeping in her room and I know our dorky Yorkie
Alfie will turn traitor and follow her around all the time. This will be fine, right? Deep breaths….
